Inspiring Collaborative technological artwork
Kat is a performance and interactive technology artist based in the midlands. Primarily a mixed performance artist she looks at ways in which performers can modernize and extend their performance vocabulary by implementing a range of technologies within their projects. Focusing on creating new pathways and stimuli for artist collaborations, bringing together the old and new techniques for creating art. Coming from a dance background, Kat looks into ways in which dancers particularly can interact with other elements of performance for example music and audience. These connections and interactions were crucial in the development of Kats's works and have been the driving force behind her ideas and creations.
‘Tune Balance’ gives musicians the tools to create music in real-time collaboratively with a dancer. Creating visuals that represent each counterpart of the collaboration. Both artists work with the visuals created by their accomplices developing relationships between the artists to each other but also each artist to the technology tying them together. The outcome is a carefully constructed collaboration of dance and music between two artists who may have never spoken a word to each other. The element of secrecy during development differs from that of a traditional collaboration giving unexpected and contemporary results.
